BorderConnect 3.0 allows you to associate customs status with your actual drivers. For the first time, you can lookup customs status without knowing the Cargo Control Number.
To see your drivers appear on BorderConnect listings, you must first associate a PARS sequence with them. Creating a new sequence is a straight-forward process where you select your carrier code, the PARS position on the barcode and the sequence range. All sequences created through BorderConnect are guarenteed to be unique with full conflict resolution.
You are not limited to creating sequences for new shipments alone. BorderConnect
allows you to associate drivers with existing customs status. If your company
manages PARS sequences in isolated Excel spreadsheets (or not at all), you can
save yourself the manual work and let BorderConnect handle PARS management
on your behalf.
BorderConnect provides a listing of all your PARS sequences when viewing the
driver details, as shown below. When you'd like to make changes, you can edit
the range or remove the sequence altogether from this listing with a single
click. You may also re-associate the sequence with another driver.
When BorderConnect receives your customs status, you’ll automatically see your driver’s name and number associated with each Cargo Control Number. LTL loads are clearly visible since you’ll see the driver’s name multiple times — in sequence. This clearly gives you a natural view of your border activity.
If you don’t see your driver’s name and he’s due to hit the border, you’ll know to call your
driver or the customs broker to fix the problem.
Sometimes drivers share their PARS stickers and the sequence information will be
out of sync with BorderConnect. When this happens, you can change the driver
for any shipment. BorderConnect will remember this change forever, even if you
delete the sequence or associate it with another driver.
Creating sequences for all of your drivers requires very little manual typing. BorderConnect 3.0 will allow you to specify sequence preferences so you can make entries quickly. If you use multiple carrier codes, you can tell BorderConnect which one you prefer. BorderConnect will automatically select it when creating both PARS and RMD sequences.
If your company prefers to leave the word ‘PARS’ out of your Cargo
Control Numbers, you can also set the PARS position to automatically appear
on the top or the bottom of your barcode.
Lastly, BorderConnect remembers the last PARS sequence value used so it can automatically populate the next set of sequenece values for you. Once the default settings are in place, assigning sequences to drivers requires no typing and can be accomplished with a few simple simple clicks.
